Almaden Oaks Community Pool

Work Hours

To keep our membership costs the lowest in the area, we need our members help to keep up the facilities during the year.  Each family (membership) is responsible for 2 hours of work at the pool.  Work hours can be completed by doing various work tasks around the pool.  Here is a list of the tasks and the available dates.  Descriptions of each opportunity can be found below.

All families with  work hours that have not been completed by Sept 1 will have their work hour deposit check deposited immediately after the Sept 1st date.  If work hours are completed after Sept 1st and before the end of the year, then the deposit will be refunded to your family.

All signups are on a first come first serve  basis, so email dan@almadenoakspool.org with the date and opportunity you would like.

Job Descriptions:

Pool cleaning ( 2 hours)
The AOCC pool is cleaned every Saturday morning.  Cleaning the pool is relatively simple,  so even if you have never cleaned a pool before, don't worry about signing up.  You will be assisted in setup, shown how to clean the pool and you will even get some help on cleanup.

Lawn Mowing ( 2 hours)
The lawn at the pool needs to be mowed every 2 weeks.  A lawn mow consists of mowing both the pool lawn and the picnic side lawn.  The AOCC provides the lawn movwer to do the mowing.  Since mowing the lawn during season takes only 75-90 minutes, often times the mower is asked to do other gardening work to make it to two hours.  You may be asked to line trim, blow the pool deck, rake leaves, pull weeds, weed kill, etc.

Work Weekends:
A work weekend is a 4 hour window of time that you can get your 2 hours in.  Work weekends are coordinated by the facilities board member and there will be a list of jobs that need to be done.  This will include things like painting, vegetation removal, mowing, tree trimming, bathroom cleaning, furniture cleaning, etc.

Kids Days/Social Events:
Kids days are a 2 hour event where the parents create and staff an activity station for the kids.  Things like face painting, cupcake decorating, arts and crafts, painting, etc are the types of stations that the kids can choose from.  As a Kids day volunteer, you will need decide on what station you will run, let the social coordinator know (to prevent duplicates) and provide the materials for the station.  Volunteering for one kids day event will satisfy your yearly work hours for the entire family.

Special Projects:
During the course of a year, the AOCC will undertake capital improvement or other major projects to improve the facilities.   Special projects in the past have been to retile the bathrooms, rebuild the bench around the palm tree, painting the cabana, replacing the boarder and fill around the play ground, etc.
